The Young Promoters Network are pleased to invite you to their first ever acoustic Sweatbox gig. So, who will be performing?
Jam With Robina - ProgFolk alt-tuned 5-piece acoustic band from South Wales formed in 2006 from the ashes of rock band "The Immigranti", Jam with RoBina started as a songwriting project between Mark Tambini and Romano Marenghi. The focus was intricate melodies, rhythmic acoustic guitars and solid song structures. The band released self-produced "Visions of a Runic" in 2007 and followed it with extensive gigging throughout the UK and Italy. During this period the band experimented with their live setup with various band members coming and going. 2009 was the year of heavy writing and recording sessions, spilling over into 2010 where Mark and Ro mastered, designed and produced their second album. "Dark Recollections" (available for download through iTunes, Amazon) was released in 2011 and has received rave reviews so far. The band has expanded to help add new flavours to the live sound through the addition of guitarist Ryan Neal, bassist Rory Williams and drummer Daniel Lewis.
Rebecca James - Rebecca is a 16 year old Singer/Songwriter/Pianist. She has loved music from a young age, appearing in many musical theatre productions. She has been having vocal training in Cardiff for the last 3 years and loves to play the piano and guitar. She started writing at the age of 15 and very quickly realised that this is where her strength lies. She entered the Open Mic UK competition in 2010 and progressed through the audition round to the regional final where she again went through and into the Area Final in London. She wowed the judges with her rendition of Christina Aguilera's You Lost Me. Chris Grayston, of Future Records London, who saw Rebecca at the competition was impressed with her and put her in touch with BGM in London who successfully developed Pixie Lott, amongst others. She is now working with BGM on their Artist Development Programme. She travels to London on a regular basis to work with vocal coaches, songwriters and to record her songs. By September she will have recorded 5 songs with BGM - 4 of which are her own original composition, Rebecca writes the lyrics, music, plays the piano and sings on all her recordings.
Evan Gardner - A Welsh singer/songwriter who has a major passion for performing. Evan has been writing songs about 7 years now and has written over 100 originals! Some of which can be seen on Youtube alongside his renditions of pop song covers. He cites Ed Sheeran as a major influence and here you can listen to Even singing his single, Stronger.
Lydia Howells A young singer/songwriter from Tonyrefail, who has worked with Amy Wadge to produce original material alongside her other well written material. Hold On was written so that people could hold on to their dreams and see past their fears. She wrote it about her grandmother who's suffering with cancer but it applies to anyone in the same situation. Tackling such a huge issue through music at such a young age shows that there is something special in her music.
It's promising to be a great night and we hope to see you there!
