What is Wicid?
We've listened to you, the young people of Rhondda Cynon Taf and we're giving you what you asked for, a young, fresh, vibrant website ... WICID!
What makes WICID special?
WICID is not just made for you, the young people of RCT, but it is made by you too. Your words, your photos, your website! Managed by young people for young people.
What's in it for me?
WICID is where you can come to get all the information you need on activities and services available to you, the young people of RCT.
The site also operates within your Ten Entitlements (the rights of young people as set out by the Welsh Assembly Government) and is in line with the European Youth Information Charter.
It allows all of you to upload articles, pictures, videos, designs and publicise events and activities in and around RCT.
Think of WICID as a quarterly online magazine, a platform which showcases your creative talents!
How can I be a part of it?
Anyone can write for WICID! Anyone can submit photographs! All you have to do is register, which will take 2 minutes. If you need help just e-mail info@wicid.tv
An Editorial Group are chosen to steer the site and to make sure there's regular content updates. This group will represent all the young people in their area.
Who are the Editorial Group?
A Group of young people aged between 11-25 responsible for writing, reporting, photographing, designing, promoting. This group will meet monthly and also be responsible for making decisions on the content and technical changes.
If you are interested in joining the group, please contact info@wicid.tv.
What if I have no experience?
Don't worry. As a member of the Editorial Group you will be tutored in the skills of journalism, graphic design, filmmaking and photography. This will be a unique opportunity for you to receive work experience and develop a portfolio to show prospective employers or colleges.
You don't have to know how to do it already, you just have to have enthusiasm, commitment and willingness to put in the time and effort.
What does it need?
Some 'WICID' content! Whatever you'd like to share with everyone. If you're a budding journalist why not share your creative writing, news, reviews, features. If you're a young promoter, why not let everyone know about events you're organizing, give your opinion on anything and everything. You can add YouTube videos to your news items, and upload images to accompany your story. You can also rate how young people friendly you feel an organization has been towards you when using their service.
You're probably wondering how this came about, well...
Promo Cymru in Cardiff have been funded to deliver Wicid in partnership with Rhondda Cynon Taf Services for Young People.
ProMo-Cymru work with clever dickies known as Burning Red, a creative design company based in Cardiff Bay: "Edgey, contemporary and passionate about our work, from our base in Cardiff Bay, Burning Red is a creative hub of design specialists dedicated to bringing your brand to life. Our clients are diverse - corporates, public and private sector organisations, retailers and musicians to name a few - but they have one thing in common - the need for creative communication."
The site includes an online directory of all organisations in RCT who offer services to young people. So you don't need to go anywhere else because it's only a 'CLIC' away.
Talking of CLIC. WICID is linked to CLIC, the National Information And Advice Service for young people in Wales, so your creative articles can also be seen nationally.
