Educ8 is working with Save The Children to help young people ‘Make a Positive Change’ in their local communities by providing them with the opportunity to have their voices heard by politicians, business owners and the press. The project is aimed at 16 - 18 year olds who are NEET and living within the Rhondda Cynon Taff/Caerphilly boroughs. This will provide them with a fantastic opportunity to gain not only an Agored Cymru qualification in Young Peoples Participation but also a chance for them to develop their skills and confidence to help them gain employment.
We are looking to run 10 groups of 12 and can offer courses from our offices in Abercynon/Ystrad Mynach, however, if it is more suitable for the learners to attend at your premises we are flexible in providing this service. The duration of the course is every day for 2 weeks or ½ day per week for 12 weeks depending on the needs of the individuals. Travel expenses and lunch will be provided. Throughout the project, the learners will conduct research into the issues and problems within their own local communities which they face every day. From that they will work together to devise solutions to overcome these problems. They will then have a fantastic opportunity to present their findings and ideas at a local community event where local politicians, BBC press, Welsh Government and Save The Children will be present to listen to their views and outcomes in order to make changes at policy level. When the project is at its end we will support every learner with further training if required or in to employment through Jobs Growth Wales. Should anyone be interested please contact Chloe on 01443 749011.
