Fancy a Samba?
Young People in Rhondda Cynon Taf are learning how to Samba as part of the Council’s Music Service provisions.
The special Samba classes take place every Friday from 4.15pm till 5.15pm in Pontypridd High School and are open to all young people in Rhondda Cynon Taf.
You do not have to have a background in music or an ability to play an instrument you just need a passion to Samba.
Samba is the carnival rhythm of the samba schools of Rio de Janeiro, but school samba groups play many other (easier) styles of Brazilian percussion on their samba drums. Reggae, funk, and hip hop are popular. The only limit is your imagination.
Councillor Eudine Hanagan, Cabinet Member for Education, Skills and Lifelong Learning said: “We are fortunate to have a wealth of talent in the County Borough, this new class enables those who perhaps would not ordinarily get involved in music a unique opportunity to get involved and try something different.
“Music is indeed a universal language and I’m delighted that Rhondda Cynon Taf continually gives young people various opportunities to enjoy it.”
So why not come along and have a go?
