There are a dedicated team of officers working to deliver activities to challenge young people and enrich their lives.

This team deal with:

* Duke of Edinburgh’s Awards
* Outdoor Activities
* International Exchanges.

Based at the well-equipped Outdoor Activity Centre at Dare Valley Country Park, the team work with a network of volunteers and workers to deliver schemes that are based on the needs and interests of young people.

Duke of Edinburgh is a well-established scheme that offers programmes at three levels gold, silver and bronze for those aged 14 to 25.

Rhondda Cynon Taf has been an operating authority for Duke of Edinburgh for over 40 years and has some 1,000 young people who are benefiting from the challenging, enriching experiences it offers.

Those who have secured the Award at any of the three levels have taken part in volunteering, active citizenship, sports, DIY and even foreign and residential trips.

For more information on Duke of Edinburgh and how you can get involved, contact your Headteacher, local youth workers or youth centre. Alternatively, you can ring 01685 889213 or 07786 523915
Outdoor Education:

Outdoor Education is provided for those aged 11 and over and, again, provides activities and opportunities based on what young people and the groups that represent them want to benefit from.

This can be anything from rock-climbing, gorge-walking, horse-riding, mountain-biking and even archery.

Some of the sessions are held at the beautiful Dare Valley Country Park, where the team is based, but they also take advantage of the natural assets across RCT and beyond, organising trips to locations and outdoor pursuit centres that deliver provision.

For more information on Outdoor Education, contact 01685 875535 or, again, contact your Headteacher or local youth workers.
