Do you ever need to search through articles in local or national newspapers to help with studies or research? Then look no further than your local library.

Libraries across Rhondda Cynon Taf are now offering free access to a newspaper research facility – Newsbank’s Access Wales and UK Newspapers. The facility has been developed specifically for libraries and some of the titles available to search include the South Wales Echo and Western Mail.

The web-based resource enables easy, instant searches from local, regional and national newspapers. The search options make it ideal for studying or for tracking local or national news.

Cllr Robert Bevan, Rhondda Cynon Taf Cabinet Member for Culture and Recreation, said: “We are pleased to be able to offer this new service. It is the ideal tool to discover facts about business, politics, health, sports and much more. This is just one of the wide range of services available at people’s local libraries.”

Newsbank is available on all library public access computers. Registered library users can also access the information, which is not freely available on the web, from home if their computer has an Internet connection.

All they need to do is log on to the Libraries website and select  ‘Library Online Information Sources’ then enter their library membership number, which can be found on their library card.

Membership of all Rhondda Cynon Taf’s libraries is free and everyone living or working within the county borough is welcome to join. Find out more by visiting
