My Princes Trust Placement with the R.C.T Detached Team

My name is Ryan and I’m 21 yrs old, I live in Aberdare and have been doing the Prince’s Trust Programme since December. As part of the programme we had to go on a placement, my placement was with the RCT Detached Youth Work Team to see how they work with young people and to help them. I have been on a placement here for the last 4 days which I’ve really enjoyed. I was based in Y Pant area in Pontypridd and my collegues were Leon Bansal and Hannah Godwin.

Monday we spent the day at Dare Valley Country Park doing some team building exercises and getting to know the team, they even gave us a buffet (cheese Ploughman’s everywhere!).
Tuesday I got to know what it was like to work in the office, which was based at Ty Trev which is in Abercynon and I got to see some of the paperwork :(!
Tuesday night we had a 5 a side football session with kids in Hawthorn, which was good because it was a competitive game and really enjoyable.
Wednesday we were going to deliver CEOP Internet safety in Y Pant Comp, it had to be cancelled though unfortunately 🙁 In the night though we went out on Detached and boy was it cold…brrrrrrrr!

I’ve really enjoyed the time here and would just like to say THANK YOU!!

Why not share your experiences in the Comments area here. We’d Love to hear them.
