The Premier League Darts returned on 17th February, in the Capital FM Arena in Nottingham with three players getting their first points in the table.

Match 1 Simon Whitlock 3-8 Raymond van Barneveld
Raymond van Barneveld got his first win of the 2011 Premier League by beating Simon Whitlock 8-3 in the opening match of the night by averaging 100.15 in dispatching the Aussie world number 6. The game started very slowly with van Barneveld missing darts at doubles in both of the opening two legs, but nevertheless securing a break of throw in the opening leg with a double 6 and a two-nil lead by hitting double 2 in the second leg. Then, the game really started with Whitlock firing in a brilliant 140 finish to move back to 2-1, however van Barneveld replied with a 180 and an eleven dart leg to put him up 3-1. Double 4 gave Whitlock another leg, but van Barneveld then hit fantastic finishes of 116 and 160 either side of the break to give him a 5-2 lead. Both players then hit double top finishes to give van Barneveld a 6-3 lead. In the next leg, Whitlock was left on 121 when van Barneveld smashed home a stunning 156 to lead 7-3. Then, in the next leg, Whitlock was waiting on 70, however again he wouldn’t get a shot as van Barneveld hit a 141 checkout to seal the 8-3 victory.

Match 2 James Wade 8-6 Adrian Lewis
In this match, the opening two legs went with the throw, before Lewis missed a dart at the bull for a 122 checkout and Wade posted a double 10 to move up 2-1. Then, both players shared 6 180s in three legs with Lewis winning two legs with checkouts of 121 and 100 and Wade his leg with a fourteen-darter to leave the game tied at 3-3 going into the break. Wade came back after the break with a thirteen-darter and then in the next leg, Wade punished 6 misses by Lewis to break the throw with a 102 finish. Wade then moved 6-3 up with a 180 and a double 17 finish, before Lewis hit double 10 to win the next leg and make the score 6-4 to Wade. Then Wade pulled out a sensational 141 checkout before Lewis won the next two legs with finishes on double 18 and a tricky double 16, to make the score7-6. In the final leg, Lewis hit three three-figure scores but missed two darts at double 18 for a 96 finish and a draw-game. Then, Wade produced the shot of a match to put in two treble-twenties and a double 8, to hit a 136 checkout and win the match 8-6.

Match 3 Phil Taylor 8-5 Mark Webster
Phil Taylor returned to winning ways, averaging 103.85, in this stunning display against Mark Webster. Taylor started quickly, hitting double 16 to take the opening leg, and then five perfect darts saw Taylor take the second leg against the throw, despite a 180 from Webster. Taylor hit a fourteen-darter in the third, before hitting two 180s in the fourth, only to see Webster pull off a 170 checkout to earn himself 1000 for the highest checkout of the night. Taylor then hit an eleven and a twelve darter to take two of the next three legs with Webster following up with a thirteen-darter of his own with a 160 checkout after Taylor had missed a dart for the bull and a 161 finish. The next two legs were also shared, before Taylor hit a double 5 to move 7-4 up. A double 6 in the next leg saw Webster close the gap to 2 legs, before Taylor hit a 180 and a double 16 to celebrate his first victory in the 2011 Premier League Darts with an 8-5 win over Mark Webster.

Match 4 Terry Jenkins 4-8 Gary Anderson
Gary Anderson breezed past Terry Jenkins, averaging 102.21 in this win which puts him 2 points clear at the top of the table. The main part of the damage for Jenkins was done early-on in the match as three breaks of throw in the first three legs gave Anderson a 4-1 lead. Jenkins took out a 120 in the sixth leg and then reduced the gap to just one, as he hit a double 19, which was preceded by a 177. Anderson ended the comeback with a double 8 in one leg, a 180 in the next, and a thirteen-dart leg in the next saw Anderson go into a 7-3 lead. The hopes of a comeback were raised again when Jenkins hit a double 15, however Anderson sealed the 8-4 victory with a 121 checkout and a twelve-darter.
