Love Is Louder Than The Pressure To Be Perfect
Standingoutside the school before the bell rings, I see a group of girls. They’re fussing about their looks. Some are applying make-up to theirfaces, others are brushing their hair. This is ridiculous. They’reworried about not fitting in.
For some reason, a lot of girls inmy year are obsessed with trying to fit in and be perfect. Some girls Iknow have tried starving themselves because they are too fat. What’sthe point in that? They’ll only make themselves ill.
I know it’snot only girls that worry about themselves. Boys do too, but they don’tseem to show it as much as girls. What I don’t understand is why peopletry so hard to be perfect. In my mind, there isn’t really such a thingat being perfect. I think people are all perfect at being themselves. Imean, wouldn’t the world be boring if everyone blended in and all actedthe same? Personally, I’d be fed up.
Another annoying thing isthe ones that pretend to be someone they are not for other people tolike them. Well then, technically, they don’t like you, they like theperson you’re trying to be. I like getting to know the real people, notsome character that doesn’t really exist. If the people you are tryingto impress don’t like you for you then they are not worth the time oreffort. So the next time you worry about how you look and fitting in,put down the foundation, stop starving yourself, just be you andremember that there isn’t any need to do all of this just to impresspeople. Love is louder than the pressure to be perfect.
