Regrettably, the legend of darts commentary for so many years, Sid Wadell, aged 71, has been diagnosed with bowel cancer.

The PDC (Professional Darts Corporation) issued a statement on behalf of Sid Wadell and his broadcasting manager Dick Allix via their website, stating the information which was given to them.

It read, “Following recent tests, Sid has unfortunately been diagnosed with bowel cancer. He is now undergoing treatment and will regretfully be unable to commit any professional engagements at the current time.”

Wadell has been part of the Sky Sports coverage of PDC events since 1994 and has been included in the PDC’s hall of fame since 2008, along with his fellow, long serving colleague, Dave Lanning.

As treatment progresses, the PDC and Dick Allix will issue further statements of his condition and welfare and I will personally post any updates on Also I will mention this on the Wicid Weekenders radio show, Fridays, 4pm-5pm on
