From May 2012 it is intended to use three goats to help keep the grounds of Llantrisant Castle free from ivy and undergrowth.
We are looking for volunteers who live locally to the Castle to help in the care of the goats. This will involve on a rota basis:-
Refreshing the water supply for the goats.
Supplementing feed from time to time with protein pellets.
Raking out and refreshing straw in the goat’s shelter.
Checking the goats visually to ensure there are no signs of injury or illness.
It is anticipated that these tasks will take no more than 10 minutes on average each day.
Training will be given and appropriate equipment will be supplied.
Advice from the goats’ owner and Animal Welfare officers will be available.
If you have an interest in keeping animals and would like to volunteer to be on the rota for the care of the goats
please call John Harrison, Heritage Officer, Rhondda Cynon Taf on 01443 744044
