Welcome, talented members of RCT, to the very first WICID Battle of the Bands Online!
First, let me explain what WICID is, to those of you who are new around these parts. If you’re already in the know, allow yourself five minutes to make a cup of tea.
WICID.TV is a successful website created for and by young people from all over the Rhondda Cynon Taff. Our content has thousands of views per month, and is the second biggest youth website in Wales! This makes WICID the perfect platform for upcoming talent, with local young people looking for the next big thing!
This is where you come in. We have a fantastic opportunity for you to get yourself heard, meet new bands, play a great gig and win fantastic prizes! The prizes include:
Each semi-finalist will be video-recorded professionally
Finalists will be featured in Plugged-In Magazine
Finalist tracks will be re-mastered and featured on WICID.tv
The winning band will receive a professional photo shoot
The WICID editorial team will work with the winners to make a music video
The band will be automatically entered into the National CLIC Battle Of The Bands 2013
All bands in the final will receive media coverage on WICID.tv, with a featured article and a review on the winner!
The first round is simple. All you have to do is email some sort of demo to firstname.lastname@example.org or Craig.Chapman@rhondda-cynon-taff.gov.uk before July 1st. This demo can be of any quality, whether it is a fully-fledged music video or a sound-recording on a mobile phone or a link to your Soundcloud page or Facebook. You send it to us, alongside your band name, a biography of your band – as long or as short as you want it to be – , your valley and your contact details and we will put it live on the site for the exciting part: the voting.
The first round of the WICID BOTB is completely online. We’ll do the hard work and get all your entries on a voting system, and all you have to do is get your fans to vote! We will let you know when the voting page is up, so your fans will have plenty of time to try and get you to our semi-finals!
The semi-finals will be split into three groups; Rhondda, Cynon and Taff. These will consist of the most popular bands of each valley performing in front of a panel of WICID members, who will have a say in the final vote. This will happen in The Factory, Porth, and the event will be filmed professionally and will be uploaded online.
The judging of the semi-final will be split between the WICID editorial and the voting public, and the results will be two bands from each valley in our live final on September 22nd, in Porth.
Well, there’s no time to waste! Send in your demos now!
