On Saturday 22nd September 2012, Wicid held the final of their first ever BOTB at The Factory, Porth. There were six bands competing in the final; these bands were Bankrupt Pug, The Broadcasts, Hunters Grace, One Track Mind, Clear the Auditorium and Nothing to Nine.
All Wicid editorial members were at The Factory by 4.30pm. The editorial members were all busy setting up at the quickest pace they could. At 5pm the first band arrived called Bankrupt Pug. As soon as they arrived they did a sound check ready for the performance.
At 6.45pm the doors opened to the public and around 45 people turned up to support the first band. While people were still coming in some of the editorial members interviewed a friend of the drummer from Bankrupt Pug and he said “I was very pleased when Rhys told me that they got to the BOTB Final – I was delighted”.
At 7.30pm the WICID BOTB Final 2012 kicked off with the first band – Bankrupt Pug. Each band played a set of three songs.
After each band finished they would take all their equipment off and go for an interview while the next band would set up and perform.
At 10.30pm it was decision time. All four judges who were Bethan Jones, Portia McGrath and two people from the Young Promoters Network went to decide who would be named the BOTB Winner.
The time had come to announce the BOTB Winner. Bethan Jones and Martyn David – sub editors of Wicid.tv – stepped up on to the stage to announce the winners. And the winners of Wicid.tv BOTB 2012 were…The Broadcasts!
The Broadcasts recently appeared in the Plugged In music magazine.
After a short interview, lead vocalist James said “We are delighted to be named Wicid.tv BOTB 2012 Winners!”
All of the bands who got to the final performed songs in the rock genre as that was their favourite genre of music.
Overall all bands sounded awesome after all the hard work of getting to the final.
A big thanks goes to Spartan Audio, The Factory Porth and all the Wicid editorial members for all their hard work!!
Well done to the winners and the other bands!
Keep an eye out for next years BOTB 🙂
