ARC Academy UK are looking for 10 young people to enrol on a Full Rail Maintenance Apprenticeship.
ARC works with a network of key employers to create a programme which is unique to their sector of work and built around their vision and their business needs. They’re experts in Railway and Construction vocational training and specialise in developing training programmes to deliver qualifications key to any business. They can incorporate upgrade of current or expired competencies into your delivery programme and even enhance and develop your current skills at one of their live heritage sites.
Their aim is to improve the skills and capabilities of young people and adults across Wales and the rest of the UK. ARC achieves this through delivery of high quality work-based learning programmes, and by working in partnership with employers, lead providers, government and individual learners.
ARC’s approach allows them to really understand their client’s needs and by building on this knowledge and understanding of the sector, ARC sustain long-term relationships and develop new opportunities. Together, they produce a highly skilled and capable world class workforce.
Based in Merthyr Vale, ARC has a fantastic team of assessors based all around the UK who can cater to everyone’s individual learning needs, industry of work and location.
The criteria for this apprenticeships is that the young people must want and be able to work in the Industry and live in either the Rhondda, Cynon or Merthyr valleys (due to transportation requirements).
All training is being provided that will include a Full Track Induction, PTS with DCCR (new requirements), A Tools competency training course and all relevant PPE.
The requirement of the young person is that they will be able to pass a Medical with a Drug & Alcohol Screen (mandatory) and be aged between 17 years and 10 months to 18 and 360ish days, male or female. This industry is one of a manual nature and will be reflected in the training and employment.
The initial training will run for 2 weeks full time. This will be paid under an apprenticeship contract where the young people will receive the national apprentice rate of £2.65 per hour for 16 hours a week.
Every week following the training they will be on a Rail site with the Employer to gain relevant experience for 2 days a week (16 hours).
