Re:Cover Music Project is a new musical competition/contest run by Phoenix Futures, centred on the problems of drug and alcohol addiction and is open to anyone who either has suffered with addiction personally or knows someone who has suffered, and themselves, in turn, have suffered emotionally.
The site says it best; “Have you or someone you know been affected by drug or alcohol addiction? Do you have a passion for making music and want to communicate your story?
If so…we need you!”
The project offers a unique and exciting opportunity for people who are 18+ years old to make music to communicate and share their stories of addiction in the form of music.
By this point I’m sure you’re wondering how it all works, so allow me to tell you. The Re:Cover Music Project will allow a small number of people the chance of recording two songs; one original and one cover, both of which deal with addiction or give an insight into it. All you do is apply at the site here (http://www.phoenix-futures.org.uk/recover/) and, if successful, you will be sent to a recording studio chosen by Phoenix Futures where you’ll get the chance to record your two songs which will then be uploaded to the site where people can choose their favourite. At the end you could be in with a chance of winning £1,500 in vouchers/credit which can be used for more recordings or even music videos.
Re:Cover is a project for all music styles and experience, bands and solo artists who have a passion for making music and want to tell a story about addiction. The project is looking for people who are eighteen and over and who are living in England, Scotland or Wales.
Phoenix Futures has been working within prisons for nearly twenty years and they encourage people who are in prison to enter in to take part in the project; however you must have access to recording facilities and a prison staff member to manage your entry.
The project is hoping to receive lots of entries but, unfortunately, spaces are limited. However, if this sounds like an opportunity you simply can’t miss then keep on reading.
You must be 18 and over.
You must be living in England, Scotland or Wales.
If you reside in prison, you must have access to recording facilities inside the prison plus a staff member to manage your entry.
As this is an awareness raising project, by applying to take part you are consenting to take part in advertising and promotion for Re:Cover.
All expenses such as food and travel during your studio recording day, where agreed previously, will be paid for.
People selected to take part in the project will need to be available for at least one day between 20th September and 1st November to record their songs at a studio.
People selected to take part in the project may request certain studios; however, the final decision about where the recording will take place will be made by Phoenix Futures.
No cash will be given for the prize fund of £1,500.
To be a part of the project and to apply, follow the link and fill in the application segment at the bottom of the linked page before the 20th of September.
