Newly promoted Cardiff City have had a mixed start to life in the Premier League. With wins over rivals Swansea and league leaders Manchester City and also a draw over reigning champions Manchester United, things weren’t looking too bad for the Bluebirds.
But the Bluebirds had entered a bad piece of form and with a late equaliser from Sunderland and a 3-0 home defeat to high flying Southampton, Malky Mackay was later sacked by controversial owner Vincent Tan. He wasn’t happy that the big spenders, Cardiff, were sitting just above the relegation zone at christmas time.
After the defeat to Arsenal at the Emirates, Cardiff appointed Ole Gunnar Solskjaer as new manager. The new boss walked into the job with a tough first game away to Newcastle at St. James’ Park. Two super substitutes won the game for Solskjaer and got him off to a flying start! His first home game was a little different though, this came against ‘bogey’ team West Ham. The Bluebirds lost 2-0 and fans were frustrated as the Bluebirds couldn’t put the ball in the net.
Cardiff’s next three away games being Manchester City, Manchester United and Swansea City and already sitting just in the relegation zone could make life even harder for Ole! Who knows – can the Manchester United legend pull off a few suprises?
