The date has finally been set for the highly speculated bout between the multi-division boxing world champion, Floyd Mayweather, and the UFC Lightweight champion, Connor McGregor.
Mayweather, 40, has been tempted out of retirement to take on McGregor, 28, under the lights of Las Vegas on Saturday, August 26th, 2017.
The fight will see Mayweather, who has been out of the ring for over two years having retired in 2015 with a 49-0 undefeated record, take on the charismatic and often outspoken McGregor, who has never boxed as an amateur or on the professional circuit.

Social media was sent into meltdown as the pair confirmed the fight on social media last night (see above).
Full details are yet to be confirmed, but the event will be broadcast as pay-per-view and will likely be a very early start, or late night, for UK viewers. In a fight that is likely to generate upwards of £500 million, this is shaping up to be a highlight of this year’s sporting calendar.
