The University of Bristol, Coram Voice and the Children’s Commissioner for Wales have launched the ‘Your Life, Your Care’ survey aimed at children looked after aged 4-18 to hear their views on the care they’ve received over the past year.
The survey asks children living in care questions about their social worker, carer(s), friends, activities they’re able to participate in, the support they’ve received and their general feelings. The results of the survey will be fed to six local authorities in Wales, including Rhondda Cynon Taf CBC, to improve their services and implement positive change to make the lives of children looked after better.
Rhondda Cynon Taf Council is committed to providing children looked after the best care possible and would like to encourage all young people living in care to share their views and experiences. The Youth Engagement and Participation Service’s school and community-based staff will be consulting with young people currently living in care within their respective schools and communities.
If you’re a young person aged 11-18 living in care in RCT and would like to take part in the survey, please contact your school’s Youth Engagement Officer. Furthermore, if you are a parent or carer who has any questions about the survey you can contact Catherine Tyler from Children’s Services on 01443 744097 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
