Pupils, parents, teachers and governors at Cwmbach Church in Wales Primary School have been given a mouth-watering sneak preview of their new menu.
They gave a big thumbs-up to the healthy, delicious and nutritional meals that will soon be served up in their school kitchen in the near future by the Council’s Catering Services team.
The team is cooking up a storm with its new school menu, which meets the high standards set by the local authority on behalf of its younger customers.
As well as tempting the taste buds of primary school pupils, the menu also meet the aims of the Welsh Assembly Government’s Appetite for Life initiative to meet the nutritional and healthy eating needs of future generations.
The new menu consists of Spaghetti Bolognaise, Pasta Pots, Corned Beef Pie and Chicken Curry with rice.
Cllr Eudine Hanagan, Cabinet Member for Education, Skills and Lifelong Learning, explained: “We are proud of the work of Catering Services and staff work very hard to design new menus that will appeal to young people and meet their nutritional needs.
“Working within the important guidelines of the national Appetite for Life initiative, the team has created a menu that parents and children alike will be pleased with.
“It meets all their nutritional needs, while also looking and tasting delicious and it is affordable too!
“Most importantly, it has been tried on the people who matter the most the children, parents and staff and been given the thumbs up, so we know it will go down a treat when it is introduced.”
