Rhondda Housing Association and the Detached Youth Work Team took 18 young people to Morfa Bay on 19-21 March ’10 to take part in an OCN accredited Alcohol Awareness Residential. We spoke of the dangers of alcohol and the effects it has on your health, we looked at the labelling of alcohol and we provided the opportunity for the young people to discuss the issue of alcohol in the area that they live. As well as doing the OCN pack we also took part in some fun activities, such as……..archery, sea kayaking, body boarding, the muddiest assault course (believe me it really did stink!!!!) and we also took the Wii and beer goggles for young people to see the effects of being drunk.
We all had a fab time and are looking at running another residential soon…..so if you live within the Tonyrefail/Gilfach area get in touch with us and give us your ideas!!
