Hi, you WICID lot out there,

The Wicid Nan here.

In the New Year I thought I would start a poll asking YOU what issue-based information you would like.

Each week I will post information on which everyone has the most votes.

The issues on the poll will relate to important dates that I would like to highlight to you or that I think may be of interest to all young people. I have put some examples of these below.

14th January – STIQ Day – which has been launched to get people thinking about their sexual health and encourage more people to get regular checks.

3rd February – Feel Good Friday – a day when Samaritans try to raise as much money as possible to enable us to continue to help people in need of emotional support, no matter what the size of their problems.

20th February – Eating Disorders Awareness Week – to raise awareness across the UK.

1st March – Self Injury Awareness Day – each year, the 1st March is designated as SIAD around the world. It is a time when we can all come together to help raise awareness about self injury and self harm.

21st May – 28th May – Mental Health Awareness week – to help raise awareness of important public mental health issues which are often neglected.

26th September – World Contraception Day – a mission to improve awareness of contraception to enable young people to make informed decisions on sexual and reproductive health.

Once I have posted the ‘hot topic’ information, I would welcome your views/opinions or any additional information that you have on the topic.

It is a chance for us to discus issues that affect lots of young people.

So, let us know what you think – the first poll will go up in January for one week, so keep your eyes peeled!!. If you would like information on anything in the meantime please let me know by posting your requests here. Or, you can e-mail me at
