Okay, so this is my first article I’ve actually wrote for WICID! I’m going to explain and write about what at the moment is my favourite hobby ‘DJ’ing’ also known as a disc jockey, which basically means a person who selects and plays recorded music for an audience. <?xml:namespace prefix =” o” ns =” “urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office”” />
On Monday 3rd October I travelled along with two mates all the way to <?xml:namespace prefix =” st1″ ns =” “urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags”” />Birmingham to witness BPM at Birmingham NEC Area.
BPM (Business process management) has been running since the summer of 2007 and is a one weekend event. It was first held at Donington Park Exhibition Centre which in its first year alone attracted an astonishing 22,000 people from all around Britain. Since then BPM has moved to it’s new home to The National Exhibition Centre (NEC) and allows the event unlimited growth because its such a huge and space’s arena, while still remaining in a central location it offers fantastic transport links by main roads and also together with an on-site train station and airport, this makes BPM more easy for visitors from across Europe and even farther afield to get to.
So what is BPM, and what to expect?
The BPM exhibition is one of the worlds largest events dedicated “DJ’s/ Record Producers/ Record Managers/ Club Promoters/ Students” and so on Basically BPM gives a massive chance for leading equipment manufacturers and distributors such as “Pioneer, Allan&Heath, Behringer and QXT” which will present their latest technology for you to look at, but more importantly get your sticky fingers on!!!
All around the area features everything from CD Players, DJ mixers to club PA systems and even lighting effects for the club promoter also software for the students. It is a prefect opportunity to try out the latest equipment and speak to the people behind it and find out everything you ever wanted and more. All the kit is set up all you have to do is pick up a set of headphones put them on and away go to then if you find exactly what you are looking for BUY IT!!! Another top advantage to BPM is that it’s attended by Record Producers and Promoters so it gives you a opportunity share ideas and hook up with other DJ’s making it absolutely ideal to push your career forward.
So if you’re serious about DJ’ing or you just want to get started BPM 2012 is the place to be only 363 days to go.
