Have you heard of

Well, its the ‘elite dating site for beautiful people only’ that was founded in 2002 in Denmark. Since then, it has spread to other countries. It went live across the globe on October 26th.

Potential members are rated by the existing members of the site over a 48 hour provisional period, to rate them on how attractive they are. Applicants must upload a recent photo and a short personal profile. They are then rated by members of the opposite sex, who have four options to describe how attractive the potential member is – ‘Yes definitely’, ‘Hmmm yes, okay’, ‘Hmmm no, not really’ and ‘No definitely not’.

From the total number of hopefuls, only 360,000 new members have been admitted. 83% of all hopefuls have been denied.

So, why am I telling you this?

Well, according to, us Brits are among the ugliest people in the world.

Only 12% of British men and 15% of British women have applied to the website and accepted as members. Overall, 295,000 people from Britain have applied since it the website was open to UK members in 2005, with only 35,000 of those making the grade.

It seems like the Swedes are the most successful applicants, with 65% of applicants being accepted. While its the Norwegians who seem to be the most beautiful women, with 78% of those putting themselves forward being approved.

While Sweden, Brazil and Norway are proving to be the countries with the most beautiful people overall, the opposite seems to be true to the Brits and the Germans.

The managing director of Beautiful People, Greg Hodge, stated “Asking why British people are doing so badly is a tough question.

“It hurts me – I’m English.

“I think there is less emphasis on appearance in the UK than overseas. If you go to some countries they are very into how they look – very health and body conscious. The UK attitude is a bit more about kicking back and relaxing and having a few drinks in the pub after work.”

So, may state that the Brits are the ugliest in the world. Do you think this is the case?
