The YEP Service recently hosted a special event to celebrate two unique projects which were set up to promote Pontypridd’s Community Alcohol Partnership (CAP).
CAP aims to reduce alcohol harm in local communities, with a particular emphasis on preventing underage drinking. The YEPS projects which were taken forward from a Dragon’s Den event supported by CAP and Sainsbury’s, resulted in the production of a life-size poster (Pontypridd High School) and film (Glyncoch Youth Club) which highlight the issues and harmful effects of misusing alcohol. The final part of the project was to set up an event (Garth Olwg Youth Club) to launch the poster and showcase the film.
This event was held on 18th July at Pontypridd High School, and offered an evening of fantastic diversionary activities – DJing, Free Running, Boxing, Graffiti Art, Glitter Face Art – for over 130 young people from local schools and youth clubs. The young people also enjoyed a chocolate fountain, sweet cart, pizzas and ice cream, as well as posing for Photobooth pictures.
It was a wonderful night which celebrated the great achievements and positive contributions of young people.
