Tuesday 16th October 2012 we saw Wales take on Croatia in Gradski Vrt stadium, Croatia. *Fact of the day – Gradski Vrt stands for City Garden*

The starting line-up for Wales was:

GK – L. Price

DEF – C. Gunter
DEF – B. Davies
DEF – A. Williams
DEF – D. Blake

MID – D. Vaughan
MID – J. Ledley
MID – A. King
MID – J. Allen
MID – G. Bale

ST – S. Morrison

Croatia recently defeated Macedonia in their previous game 2 – 1 and Wales recently defeated Scotland 2 – 1 at the Cardiff City Stadium by a last minute goal from Tottenham midfielder, and Welsh wing wizard, Gareth Bale.

Wales are currently fourth in the group with Croatia being 3rd.

At 7pm, the game kicked off.

With Wales kitted out in white and green, Croatia were straight on the ball in to Wales’ box with a brilliant cross from Croatia’s I. Rakitic.

In the 27th minute Croatia’s Mario Mandzukic hammered the ball in to the net, after a defensive mix-up, to make it a 1 – 0 lead to Croatia and the home fans went crazy after the first goal was scored.

Half-time was coming closer and the Welsh midfielder Joe Allen hit a fantastic shot which unfortunately hit the woodwork.

Half time came and the referee blew his whistle at the 47th minute after 2mins of added time.

It was time for the second half and Wales were all confident to come out and play football.

At the 52nd minute, Wales’s Chris Gunter tackled Croatia’s Eduardo and was given a yellow card.

Then at the 58th minute Croatia’s Eduardo made it 2 – 0 Croatia with a tap-in.

The Croatian fans were off their seats singing and cheering for their team.

While full time was growing closer Wales manager Chris Coleman made a change to the team with striker Steve Morrison coming off for Simon Church.

The fourth official indicated how many minutes were going to be added on for injury time and he added on 4 minutes.

The final whistle was growing closer as Wales fans started to leave the stadium and it was a disaster for Wales as they were hoping to win their last World Cup Qualifier of 2012.

Overall, I think Wales played very well during their match against Croatia and managed their possession very well but were simply up against a better side.
