5 young men from the Keystart Project in Mountain Ash have just undertaken a gruelling journey, to complete their Expedition for their Bronze Duke of Edinburgh’s Award.

The boys carried full packs of equipment and battled extreme weather conditions to travel 25 miles down the Taff Trail, from north of Merthyr Tydfil to Whitchurch in Cardiff.
Though the going was tough at times, they were determined to succeed and maintained high spirits, reaching their destination tired, wet, but smiling.

Claire Powell, Project Co-ordinator, said: ”I am very proud of the boys, they worked extremely hard in very bad weather conditions, but as a team they pulled together to achieve their goals. I would also like to thank Kerry and Keith for all their hard work as well as my staff Beth, Simon and Steve who all help and encouraged the boys to get through the three days. The boys have all achieved something very special and I know will take it with them forever”.

The boys are now looking forward to undertaking their Silver DofE Award!
