Future Leaders

The British Council has a new project called Future Leaders Connect, which is looking for 50 young people (18-35) who have big ideas to change the world. BC is looking for individuals with ideas, energy and confidence who can passionately articulate their vision for global change.

Two people from Wales will be chosen to join the international group – BC thinks it will be an exciting opportunity for them to engage more in politics, make valuable connections with young people from around the world, and develop their leadership skills. Later this year, the fifty global finalists will be part of:

  • Fully funded nine day residential programme in Cambridge and London, with interactive workshops that will enhance existing leadership and communication skills, and share policy making best practice
  • The chance to meet UK Parliamentarians, visit UK leading institutions and attend private meetings with leaders and policy makers from around the world
  • A one day conference in the Houses of Parliament themed Fast Forward: Preparing for the World Ahead of Us. The conference will be an interactive day of discussions and debates with UK Parliamentarians addressing some of the world’s most urgent issues.

Full details on the BC website<https://wales.britishcouncil.org/en/programmes/society/future-leaders-connect> Here is your brief: Come up with an idea that could change the world! Each school/forum can submit one idea to Sarah.Evans3@rctcbc.gov.uk by WEDNESDAY 3rd MAY. You can also submit your idea by commenting on this article. Each idea will be posted on http://www.wicid.tv and the YEPs social media pages where people can VOTE for their favourite ideas – the TWO ideas with the most votes overall will receive an e-mail by Wednesday 10th May announcing that they are one of the chosen candidates.

If your school/forum’s idea is successfull, you will need to put forward ONE young person each who will take your idea forward (you may wish to include a little bio about them when you submit your idea). YEPs will then submit applications for the two candidates for consideration on the Future Leaders Programme

Good luck!
