Lego Batman 3: Beyond Gotham – Game Review

I used to play the Lego Batman trilogy when I was younger and I loved it and I still love it now even though I am a teenager. The third game in the trilogy does not disappoint me. In my opinion it is the hardest game of the trilogy but that doesn’t mean that the game isn’t enjoyable. The game has got amazing cut scenes and always amazing dialogue with a bit of humour in it now and again which I love.

I have been playing Lego Batman 3: Beyond Gotham with my father and this game is hard because you have to destroy every brick on every level to make sure you don’t miss any items you need. You have to search for different suits and weapons for you to be able to finish off each level fully. The suits are there to help you to complete the level and the weapons are there for the same reason. As far as I am aware, you can customise characters but after you complete the campaign.

Even though I haven’t completed the game yet I do know that there are 15 levels to get through and there is even a Free Roam mode which I love, this lets you go around the city/levels at your own pace and pick up anything you might have missed in the previous play through.

As all Lego games stand, there is a split screen which lets you play multiplayer which I would recommend because 1. It’s more fun to play through with someone else and 2. I personally think single player is too hard on your own.

The graphics are good but I think they could be better because in some levels you can’t see the item that you’re looking for or the item you need to destroy to move on to the next part of the level. If the graphics were that little bit better it would be easier to see what’s happening, this would make the game flow a lot nicer.

My main problem with the game is the camera angles because sometimes when you are moving through a level the camera may give up following your character, you can move the camera a little but not enough to help you in some situations. Or the biggest issues is sometimes you can get stuck in certain places and you can’t free yourself, even if you drop out of a multiplayer game or change character in single player, that character still can’t get free so you have to restart the level!

What I do like is that you can choose between loads and loads of different characters but only around 10-15 have special abilities you can choose from. My favourite character is The Flash because I love his TV show and how fast he can go.

Overall I think this game is a really good game and you can pick it up today in most places on Playstation 4, Nintendo Switch and Xbox 1. It most definitely lives up to the Lego game standard!
