South Wales’ best rock festival is returning to the grounds of Cyfarthfa Castle this August 17th: but Merthyr Rock is much more than a one-day event.

The festival runs a series of Fringe activities across the town and surrounding areas in the run up to the main event. Under the banner of ‘The Road to Merthyr’, the programme of events features unique concerts in intimate venues, mobilises and gives a platform to rising talent and sets performers loose in the town centre.

There’s also an educational element where people of all ages encouraged to learn about the opportunities which a career in the creative industries can unlock for them, as well as learning tangible new creative skills from industry professionals.

Merthyr Rock Fringe events are supported by the Arts Council for Wales and the programme is produced in partnership with 3G’s Development Trust, Rhondda Cynon Taf CBC’s Designs for Life Programme, Young Promoters Network, Merthyr Tydfil CBC, Think Big with 02, Head4Arts and Zoom Cymru.
