During the summer period services from the Mountain Ash cluster such as the RCT detached team, Tri yn un Communities first and Fernhill youth project staffed a Football Tournament sponsored by Boulton’s Mini Bus Company who kindly provided the medals and trophies for the day.

Teams turned up from the Mountain Ash area to participate in the day and after a few warm up games it was wisely decided by Lyn Scorey of Tri yn un Communities First to mix all the players and create a world cup format with all teams being named after countries. This tied in nicely with the actual world cup taking place over the summer.

After the teams were decided I must say it was wonderful to see all young people working together even though they were from various areas in Mountain Ash and all games were played in a great sporting manner. It created a chance for young people to co-exist with others they wouldn’t normally and to gain new friends.

The day was a total sucess with all staff having a go at time keeping and reffing the games for the day to work.
A big thanks goes to all participating staff, Boultons mini bus company for providing the medals and trophies and certainly a big thank you goes to all young people who took part in the day they were a credit to themselves and to the area. The over-all winner of this world cup style tournament was surprise, surprise the team of Brazil, some things never change!!

Well done Mountain Ash!
