Parc & Dare Theatre Launch Live Music Night for Young People
Red Hot new Music Venue Lands in Treorchy!
A new music venue has opened its doors for the young people of Treorchy under the name ’The Sweatbox’.
‘The Sweatbox’ is a new monthly night exposing blistering unsigned talent in Rhondda Cynon Taf. Held in the refurbished bar area of Parc and Dare Theatre, Treorchy, the night is aimed at music lovers aged 14 and over and provides a platform for local, upcoming bands to kick-start their career in live music.
The launch night is on Friday 17th December and is brought to you by Sweatbox Promotions supported by Sonig (Arts Development Department in RCT), who both aim to help Treorchy get back on the map as a live music destination and will provide a safe environment for young people to enjoy themselves.
The monthly night couldn’t come any sooner for Leon Jones of Magden Audio: ‘It’s amazing to have a new live music venue in Treorchy. We definitely need a good space for talented unsigned bands. We (Magden Audio) can’t wait to play in our hometown just before Christmas.’
Hometown boys, Magden Audio, will appear alongside Cuba Cuba who have previously featured on the Radio One playlist and are generally tipped as one of the most exciting bands to come out of South Wales in the last twelve months. Also appearing will be Porth-based band Special Editions and Treherbert 4 piece, Amerette.
Most importantly, the show only has 100 tickets up for grabs. So please call The Parc & Dare box office on 08000147111, before tickets sell out. Tickets are priced at £4 in advance.
