Work will begin within the next few weeks to give Tonypandy a much-needed ‘facelift’.
It’s hoped that the work will encourage more shoppers and visitors, as the town centre has suffered reduced footfall in recent years.
Signs, street furniture, paving and lighting amongst many other things will be improved. The problem of litter and chewing gum will also be addressed with a ‘deep clean’ and steam to remove it.
RCT Council leader Andrew Morgan said, “We are proud of all our town centres and want to showcase all that they have to offer to visitors in the best possible light. This investment provides a welcome boost for Tonypandy town centre, which will help to attract more shoppers into the town and provide a boost to the local economy.”
The work will take 4-6 weeks and during this period, visitors are advised there will be some restrictions on movement of traffic between 7.30am to 3.30pm, Monday to Thursday, and occasionally Sundays.
What do you think? Is this facelift long overdue? Are you planning on doing some retail therapy in the newly-renovated town centre?
