Hey, guys. It’s that time of year again – time for the Wicid Online Battle of the Bands Semi-Finals.
This year, we’re doing things a little differently; we are doing our first ever live semi-finals (woo hoo).
After the great success that was last year’s Battle of the Bands, we have decided to make this year’s semi-finals a live event. All bands who have been successful in making it to this stage will be performing a 15 minute set in one of South Wales’ well-known music venues, The Factory in Porth.
So come along to the Factory on Friday 9th August and Saturday 10th August from 11am – 3pm to support this year’s semi-finalists, and wish them luck to get through to the final.
The live semi-finals will be a free, yes you read it right, free entry event where 8 bands from over Rhondda Cynon Taf will be competing for one of four places in our Battle of the Bands final at the end of August.
After a number of entries to this year’s Battle of the Bands, our Wicid judges have chosen the following 8 bands to battle it out live in our semi-finals:
- Fingertrap
- Messages from Manhattan
- Friend of the Foe
- The Pitchforks
- Freakuency
- Darkness Overwhelms
- Civil Foes
- Quarantine
The live semi-finals will be filmed by our Wicid film crew, and then published on Wicid.tv and Wicid’s Youtube channel. Alongside these, there’ll be a voting poll where Wicid website users can watch and vote for their favourite band to go through to the live finals.
This year’s Battle of the Bands winners will receive:
A professional music video, which will be posted on CLIConline, Youtube and Wicid.tv.
A professional photoshoot by Clixx Photography for the winners; second and third place will also receive a professional photoshoot by Wicid.tv.
A press release in local newspapers
A feature on ClicOnline and Wicid.tv
And half a day recording at Long Row Audio, Trefforest
So come along and support your local bands!
Good luck to all semi-finalists.
